Cayo Andreatta is originally from Brazil. He lives in Somerville, Massachusetts, and owns Phenoms Pro Painters.

He started the company to do the job the way he thinks it should be done: proper preparation, quality materials, attention to the details that show, and direct communication with every customer. That last part is deliberate. Cayo is the person who comes to look at your house, the person who quotes it, and the person who answers the phone when you call afterwards.

He has a team, and he is still on your job

For larger work Cayo brings his own team in — that is how three large apartments got painted in four days. What does not change is who is responsible. There is no office in between, and you still have one number to call if something is not right: his.

What he actually cares about

Preparation, mostly. Two interior jobs can look identical the day the painters leave and look nothing alike three years later, and the difference is entirely in what happened before the color went on — whether the filler was sanded flush, whether the caulk line was renewed, whether repairs were primed.

And honesty about materials. One customer had picked a paint brand; Cayo recommended a higher-quality, less expensive one instead and explained why. That is a small thing that tells you most of what you need to know.
