Work we have finished in Danvers
The photographs on this page are Cayo’s own, from interiors we have finished in Danvers: a kitchen, a dining room with a white coffered ceiling, a warm gray living room and a stairway. Some show the rooms finished; a couple show them mid-job, floors covered and the new kitchen still going in.
Painting around a new kitchen
One of the Danvers jobs is a good example of a room being painted while a new kitchen goes in.
The cabinets in those photographs are new units being installed — not something we painted. Our work was the room around them, cut in cleanly against the new cabinetry. The mid-job photos show the flat-packed boxes still on the floor.
If you are doing a kitchen, the order matters. Painting before the cabinets go in is faster and gives the cleanest edges, because there is nothing to cut around. Painting after works fine too — it just takes more care. Either way it is worth talking to your installer and to us before the work starts, not after.
Coffered ceilings and detailed rooms
The dining room on this page has a white coffered ceiling over soft gray walls, with deep window casings. It is one of the most satisfying rooms to finish and one of the slowest.
Every beam in a coffered ceiling has four faces, every recess is cut in by hand, and all of it is overhead. A flat ceiling of the same size might take an hour; a coffered one takes most of a day. That is why it is quoted on its own — and why a quote that treats them the same has not looked up.
Old houses, and the North Shore climate
Danvers has some of the oldest housing on the North Shore. The town began as Salem Village, and colonial-era houses like the Rebecca Nurse Homestead still stand. Much of the rest of the town runs from Victorians through post-war and modern single-family homes.
Old houses bring old paint. Trim that has been recoated for generations needs its build-up sanded back before anything new goes on, or the new finish simply records every drip and run underneath.
Near the water in Danversport, the climate adds a second concern. Salt air and damp are hard on exterior paint, so on an exterior job there the preparation and the choice of product matter more than they would a few miles inland.

Neighborhoods
Danvers is not one place
Each part of Danvers has its own housing mix, and the painting changes with it. Here is how the work differs across Danvers.
- The historic core
Danvers Center
Some of the oldest houses on the North Shore. Danvers began as Salem Village, and the Rebecca Nurse Homestead still stands here. Old houses reward careful preparation on trim that has seen many coats.
- On the water
Danversport
The low-lying area along the Danvers River. Salt air and damp are hard on exterior paint, so preparation and the right exterior product matter more here than inland.
- The north of town
Hathorne & Putnamville
The north end of town, around Hathorne Hill and Putnam Hill and the Putnamville Reservoir. Hillier ground, and the kind of homes where interiors and exteriors are both on the table.
- One of the named villages
Tapleyville
One of the town's named villages, with a mix of housing ages. Every house is a different job, which is exactly why every estimate starts with a walkthrough.

Questions
Painting in Danvers — common questions
Do you work on the North Shore?
Yes, the North Shore is part of our service area. The photographs on this page are from interiors we have finished in Danvers — a kitchen, a dining room with a coffered ceiling, a living room and a stairway.
Can you paint a coffered ceiling?
Yes. A coffered ceiling is some of the slowest painting in a house — every beam has four faces and every recess is cut in by hand, overhead. The dining room on this page is one. It is worth quoting on its own rather than as an ordinary ceiling.
We are putting in a new kitchen. Can you paint around it?
Yes. The Danvers kitchen on this page had new cabinets going in while we worked on the room around them. Painting before the cabinets are installed is easier, but coordinating with your installer works too.
Our house is near the water in Danversport. Does that matter?
For the exterior, yes. Salt air and damp are hard on paint, so preparation and choosing the right exterior product matter more near the Danvers River than inland. We will talk about your specific house at the walkthrough.
How far is Danvers from you?
